So I've been working on modifying this projector to use an LED sight source. I was able to trick the projector into thinking the lamp was still installed by connecting two wire pairs from the small cable running from the lamp power circuit. Disconnect the lamps power from the main power supply. Disconnect the small wire running to the mainboard from the lamp power supply. Remove the connector. Isolate the yellow wire, solder the white and black together, solder the red and brown together. You should now be able to start the projector with the lamp and its power supply completely removed. Reminder, you will still need to either tape the microswitch down or connect the wires. | | |

So I was hacking open my Gigaware Micro Projector from RadioShack and low and behold I find Oculon stamped inside. I do a little googling and find out that this projector is a rebadged Oculon Pro920. That is smart brand/price management. Sell out your product under a new name to liquidate inventory without tarnishing your brand.
I noticed a few people reaching this page via google looking for a hack. Thought I'd add some extra pictures. It is very easy to swap out the stock LED, I'd just a 5W LED from mouser.

Words of warning, if you take apart the optics module it can be very difficult to put back together. If you don't put the films back right, the right colors won't come through and you'll have to take it back apart. If someone wants to see those pictures leave a comment and I'll upload.

| Hey Yall, been a long time since I wrote a real post - maybe this will become one. Lets start with last year in review.
February 2009 - I leave the country for the first time in my life - Renata and I ventured to Canada. Our hotel was amazing - excellent steam shower and hot tub - the room service was really cool. I was a little disappointed in Canada though... I might as well have been in the US. That close to the border it was hard to find something original to Canada.
Summer 2009 - I head to work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. I attend a biology summer school at Illinois. To top the cake, I get my first conference paper published. Alonso M.P., Malone E., Moon F.C., Lipson H. (2009) "Reprinting the Telegraph: Replicating the Vail Register using Multi-materials 3D Printing," Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium (SFF'09), Aug 3-5 2009, Austin, TX, USA.
I went treking into the great california wilderness with Mike, Steph, and Renata. Beautiful redwoods and the terrifying OakDeath come to mind. I found out that while California is always warm the water is very cold.
I go skydiving and almost die white water rafting with my boys - Jeremy, Mike, Xing, Jason, Miguel, Cesar, David R, Ryan and Hector.
On August 18th 2009 - Renata and I get married through the Catholic Church in Urbana, IL. Everything goes well thanks to great love from family and friends. I leave the country for the second time as Renata and I travel to Costa Rica. We have a great time in our cozy Villa, walk to the beach and wave hi to monkeys. I chase down a lonely croc and we look oddly at the raccoon on the beach. Key memories being early morning treks for fresh fruit drinks and zip lining. On our way out $40 enters the pocket of a greedy officerman.
Renata and I settle into a cozy apartment and form a home. We did a great job decorating.
Fall 2009.... I think I need another semester to write this one, to new.
Currently I'm in Livermore California to work during my vacation. I just returned from LA where I earned a LIFE tile - I drove the "1" from LA up the coast. Jeremy is one excellent host and I find multiple reasons to desire a jump to cali. Weird though, my roots keep calling me home.
Illinois - Home sweet Home.

| Sorry for being a sellout!

| Wow... So I find myself covered in poison-Ivy for the second time in a year. It seems these days that everytime I walk into the woods I come back with more then I bargained for. Atleast this time its only consuming my arm and a portion of my cheek. Its sad because I really to enjoy the woods and areas of dense foliage... maybe I should capture some Ivy and attemp to accustome my body to its oil. Somehow I think that is an idea doomed to failure.
Schools almost out for the summer, going to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory over the break. Got approved for a home loan yesterday, many doubts on how to justify that financially - but mentally/emotionally its certainly justifyable from a quality of life standpoint. I went in thinking I would use the FHA program, but I think our financials are set straight enough to get a better loan - one without mortgage insurance, big funk you to PMI. With the wedding costing around 20k, going to need to find a way to skip out on a high down payment though. Looking at a 80/15/5 loan. Let me know if anyone has some insight on the wisdom of 80/15 versus FHA.
Life goes on
